Pictured: Fan placed at bottom of
stairs. This fan was placed at the bottom of the staircase, and forced air
up the stairs. Our townhouse is an end unit with three sides exposed
facing South, with very little shading. On hot summer evenings upstairs
temperatures would reach the mid 80s, while downstairs, where the A/C
thermostat is located, would be in the low 70s. To help equalize
temperatures we began using the pictured fan in summer of 97, along with two
upstairs vent fans. The fan is clogged with soot and unburned
insulation.
